SDG Pioneers Pakistan 2022

Are you a business leader advancing the Sustainable Development Goals through a principles-based approach, or do you know someone who is?

Who are the SDG Pioneers?

Each year the UN Global Compact celebrates a class of SDG Pioneers — business leaders working at any level in a company, who are using business as a force for good to advance the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through their own company or by mobilising other businesses, they are helping to reach one or more of the SDGs while also contributing to business success. The SDG Pioneers play an important role in advocating the Global Goals and demonstrating how businesses are advancing them.

  

In 2022, the UN Global Compact will recognise professionals who are setting ambitious SDG targets, scale, and impact across their companies through a principles-based approach. Local Networks spanning all continents will be hosting country-level SDG Pioneers campaigns to identify Local Pioneers who will then be contenders for the Global Round to be recognised at the 2022 UN Global Compact Leaders Summit.

The Pakistan-wide search for our next SDG Pioneer begins on the 1st December 2021.

Why apply or nominate someone?

  • Employee engagement and recognition – highlight how your employees are advancing the SDGs and becoming the next generation of leaders.
  • Enable change agents for the SDGs – accelerate your vision within your organisation and create change.
  • National and global recognition – receive visibility and recognition for the great work you are doing to advance the SDGs. The PakistanSDG Pioneer will be recognised in spring 2022 and the Global SDG Pioneers will be announced at the 2022 UN Global Compact Leaders Summit in June.

Who can apply?

Professionals who are working at any level in a UN Global Compact participating company are eligible to apply or be nominated. For the 2022 SDG Pioneers, we only consider companies who were participants of the UN Global Compact on 31 May 2021 and have submitted at least 1 Communication on Progress (CoP).

Selection and Judging Process

Local Networks around the world are hosting country-level SDG Pioneers campaigns to seek out local pioneers, who will then also have an opportunity to be recognised globally. A multi-stakeholder SDG Pioneers Selection Group, comprised of representatives from the UN Global Compact Network Board Members, United Nations, Government, Academic, and civil society, will vote on the candidates.

Each Local Network will recognise one SDG Pioneer who will continue to the Global Round.
